Chhindwara, March 27 (NationPress) Following his visit to the families of those who lost their lives and the injured individuals currently receiving treatment at Chhindwara District Hospital, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav shared his sorrow, labeling the event as “extremely distressing.”

Upon arriving in Chhindwara, the Chief Minister engaged with the relatives of victims from localities such as Karera, Gwara, and Jhiria, assuring them of comprehensive support from the government.

Yadav then proceeded to the district hospital, where over 30 injured individuals are being cared for, and he took the time to inquire about their medical treatment.

“I had to cancel my pre-scheduled commitments today to meet with the families affected by this tragic road accident that occurred in Chhindwara, as I wished to convey my condolences. This incident weighs heavily on my heart. In this dark hour, the government is resolutely standing by the affected families,” Yadav stated.

The Chief Minister declared an increase in financial support to Rs 8 lakh for each deceased person's family, which is a significant rise from the Rs 4 lakh initially promised following the accident late Thursday night.

“A financial aid of Rs 4 lakh is being disbursed from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund. Additionally, I have directed that another Rs 4 lakh be provided under the Chief Minister’s Sambal Scheme. Thus, the total financial assistance for each bereaved family will amount to Rs 8 lakh,” he explained.

For those injured, an ex-gratia amount of Rs 1 lakh will be granted.

Yadav also mentioned that he has ordered an investigation into the accident.

In the meantime, the Chief Minister praised the police officers who promptly conducted rescue operations and ensured the injured were transported to medical facilities.

“I commend their swift actions. Many lives were saved due to their quick response. These officers will also be honored. Furthermore, I discussed the condition of the injured individuals who have been transferred to hospitals in Nagpur with the doctors,” he noted.
