Amaravati/New Delhi, May 23 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Friday to unveil a strategic vision aimed at establishing the state as a national centre for defence manufacturing and aerospace innovation.
During the discussion, Naidu presented a detailed plan that includes the development of industrial infrastructure, fostering research partnerships, and setting up strategic installations in essential regions of Andhra Pradesh. The proposals feature the establishment of integrated defence facilities, revitalization of key manufacturing units, support for local aviation initiatives, and the creation of thematic defence hubs to encourage regional specialization.
Naidu emphasized Andhra Pradesh’s preparedness, backed by its robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, and supportive policy environment, to lead the charge in promoting Aatmanirbhar Bharat through self-sufficient defence production and innovation.
On social media, the Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for meeting Rajnath Singh. He stated, "We explored a thorough roadmap for Andhra Pradesh to become a pivotal element of India's defence and aerospace future. With initiatives including thematic defence hubs, DRDO-linked Centres of Excellence, and strategic infrastructure advancements, Andhra Pradesh is fully equipped to support Aatmanirbhar Bharat. I am thankful for his positive feedback and commitment to provide full support," he shared.
During his two-day visit to the national capital, Naidu also met with Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Prahlad Joshi. He described this meeting as productive, during which he requested rooftop solar capacity allocation for Andhra Pradesh under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
Naidu stated that the state aspires to achieve free rooftop solar for 20 lakh SC/ST households, subsidized access for BC consumers, and 10,000 rooftop units in each Assembly constituency. "With the Centre's backing, we will lower energy costs, empower our people, and lead India's clean energy transition," he added.
The Chief Minister also met with Union Jal Shakti Minister, C. R. Paatil, to discuss effective strategies for enhancing water security in drought-affected regions of Andhra Pradesh. He emphasized that the Polavaram-Banakacherla initiative aims at sustainable solutions to support irrigation, drinking water, and regional development. He requested the Centre's robust support to advance this under the long-term vision for Swarna Andhra 2047.
Naidu was also set to meet with Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, to deliberate on partnerships in research, innovation, and industrial science.
Additionally, he will approach Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to solicit support for Andhra Pradesh’s financial strategy.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to participate in a significant review meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the implementation of new criminal laws across states.
