Imphal, Jan 14 (NationPress) Four senior Army officials, including the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command, Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari, met with Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Tuesday to evaluate the state's security landscape, as reported by officials.

A representative from Raj Bhavan stated that Lieutenant General Tiwari provided an overview of the current security conditions in Manipur and the overall security status of the northeastern region.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister referenced his discussions with the Army leaders, stating: "We explored multiple topics, including approaches to enhance security, improve collaboration, and safeguard the welfare of our residents."

Alongside Lieutenant General Tiwari, the other Army officers participating in the discussions with Governor Bhalla and Chief Minister Singh included Lieutenant General Abhijit S. Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3-Corps (Spear Corps), GOC 57 Mountain Division Major General S.S. Kartikeya, and Major General Ravroop Singh, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South).

On the same day, Chief Minister Singh attended the Armed Forces Veterans' Day celebration at the 1st Battalion of Manipur Rifles headquarters.

"I honored our courageous veterans for their invaluable contributions in bravely defending the nation and ensuring security with immense bravery, steadfast resolve, and sacrifices," CM Biren Singh mentioned in a post on X.

In another update, he noted: "Despite its small population, Manipur has produced numerous high-ranking officers in the Indian Army. Out of the four Lieutenant Generals in the entire Northeast, two hail from Manipur, and we should take pride in our contributions to the nation’s safety and security."

"Their acts of valor will perpetually inspire pride and patriotism in our hearts," the Chief Minister concluded.
