Meerut, Dec 6 (NationPress) BJP MP Arun Govil has strongly criticized suspended TMC MLA Humayun Kabir for laying the foundation stone of a Babri Masjid structure on Saturday.
The MP stated that Kabir's actions are “against the nation” and “entirely unacceptable.”
The BJP MP's comments followed after Kabir laid the foundation stone for a Babri Masjid in Murshidabad on Saturday.
During the ceremony, suspended TMC MLA Kabir proclaimed, “In 2024, I declare that I will soon inaugurate a Babri Masjid in Beldanga, Murshidabad. Today, on December 6, the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, we are gathered here in Murshidabad.”
Speaking to IANS, Arun Govil remarked that Kabir's own party had suspended him for his statement, which “clearly demonstrates how misguided and irresponsible it was.”
He emphasized, “Whatever plans he is concocting are against the country. He is unequivocally anti-national. Such actions can disturb peace; he should refrain from this. The act warrants the strongest condemnation.”
The BJP MP also mentioned his demand for the installation of CCTV cameras in mosques and madrasas.
“I have made this demand with good intentions and solely for security reasons. CCTV cameras should be set up at all public and community locations,” he stated.
In response to Humayun Kabir laying the foundation stone, Union Minister of State Nityanand Rai mentioned that Kabir’s actions were inappropriate.
“There is no objection to mosques in this country. However, if an invader who attacked India, destroyed Hindu deities' idols, and demolished our sacred temples — the Mughal emperor Babur — constructs a mosque in his name, then the motive is questionable, and the act is inappropriate. Mosques are acceptable, but building one in Babur's name is not correct.”
Earlier, after laying the foundation stone for the proposed mosque in Murshidabad on Saturday afternoon, Humayun Kabir announced that a budget of Rs 300 crore is allocated for establishing the Babri Mosque at Beldanga, which will resemble the original structure in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, demolished on December 6, 1992.
He also claimed that even the Calcutta High Court had confirmed on Friday that he was not engaging in any wrongdoing or unconstitutional actions by announcing the establishment of a mosque at Beldanga or laying the foundation stone.
