An official from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) stated that the state Cabinet, during a meeting led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, approved the "Arunachal Pradesh Arun Parivar Patra Authority Bill, 2025".
This legislation intends to create a family-centric citizen database in Arunachal Pradesh, with the official noting that once passed, it will enhance the delivery of public welfare schemes and services statewide.
The Cabinet’s meeting took place on Monday in Nyapin, located in the Kurung Kumey district.
As part of the government's 'Cabinet Aapke Dwar' initiative, the ‘Team Arunachal Government’ convened this council of ministers meeting in the western region of the state.
This marks the fourth outdoor Cabinet meeting and the first during the current term of Pema Khandu's government 3.0, as per the official.
In a notable advancement towards evidence-based governance and strategic planning, the Cabinet also sanctioned the creation of the Institute for Transforming Arunachal (ITA).
The prospective institute will function as the state's leading policy think tank, offering research-driven advisory support, policy suggestions, and strategic guidance to boost socio-economic development.
The ITA will be situated within the Department of Finance, Planning & Investment, in accordance with NITI Aayog protocols.
This institute aims to concentrate on transformational governance, economic advancement, sustainable development, and innovation.
Its role will be pivotal in shaping State Vision@2047, aligning it with India Vision@2047, ensuring that Arunachal Pradesh stays at the forefront of development, as stated by the official.
Through fostering an ecosystem of collaborative policymaking and research, the ITA is poised to facilitate Arunachal Pradesh's transition into a model of sustainable growth, economic resilience, and governance excellence, the official remarked.
The Cabinet has also endorsed the launch of the "Arunachal Pradesh Handloom and Handicrafts Policy-2024", aimed at revitalizing and modernizing the state's handloom and handicrafts industry.
A key initiative under this policy includes the establishment of a comprehensive digital database for weavers and artisans, designed to optimize resource distribution and offer tailored support.
Under this policy, the recognition award for exceptional craftsmanship has been raised from Rs 75,000 to Rs 1,00,000, while the second prize has increased from Rs 65,000 to Rs 75,000.
In an effort to address and manage the rampant encroachment of government lands, the Cabinet approved the appointment of any officer not below the rank of Deputy Commissioner (DC) as an appellate authority when the DC, acting as an Estate Officer, issues an order against which an appeal is lodged.
