Itanagar, Oct 30 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, emphasized on Thursday the state’s immense potential, blessed with abundant natural resources, distinctive agro-climatic conditions, and a rich heritage of craftsmanship. During the inauguration of the two-day Arunachal Pradesh Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM) 2025 at a city hotel, he stated that this event signifies a vital milestone in establishing Arunachal Pradesh as a significant player in India's export ecosystem.
“Our state can emerge as a key contributor to India’s export basket, from kiwi and mandarin oranges to large cardamom, ginger, and pineapple,” Khandu remarked. He highlighted his administration's vision to transform Arunachal Pradesh from a producer state to an export-driven economy.
He referenced various initiatives taken by the state in partnership with national bodies like the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) aimed at identifying exportable goods, enhancing agricultural infrastructure, and promoting the international branding of Arunachal’s unique products.
Khandu pointed out that the remarkable advancements in connectivity over the last decade — across roads, railways, aviation, and digital networks — have opened up new avenues for trade and export. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the impressive improvement in connectivity has made global trade from our state a tangible prospect,” he stated, expressing gratitude to the Central government for this transformation.
The two-day RBSM 2025 is organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in collaboration with the state’s Department of Trade and Commerce, bringing together producers, exporters, investors, and buyers from both India and abroad to explore trade and investment opportunities in Arunachal Pradesh.
Khandu praised the ICC for collaborating with the state government to establish Arunachal Pradesh as a burgeoning hub for organic, natural, and value-added products. “This Meet is more than just a trade event; it serves as a platform for possibilities, linking our farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs with domestic and global markets,” he remarked.
Recalling previous successes, the Chief Minister mentioned the International Conclave-cum-Buyer Seller Meet held in Tawang, which successfully connected over 350 farmers and 50 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) with international buyers. He pointed out a significant MoU signed by the Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board (APAMB), enabling the export of oranges and pumpkins to Gulf nations.
Khandu also highlighted the government’s strategic partnerships with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Indian Army, which have established institutional markets for local agricultural products, thereby fortifying the rural economy.
On the state’s industrialization push, Khandu elaborated on the Industrial Development and Investment Policy 2025, which outlines a strategy for sustainable industrial growth through skill development, investment facilitation, and fostering entrepreneurship.
He mentioned that the government is providing a variety of financial incentives — including transport and interest subsidies, as well as insurance support for resource-based industries. To enhance the ease of doing business, the government has streamlined Udyam registration for MSMEs and improved the operational efficiency of District Industries Centres (DICs) to offer advisory support, facilitate credit, and strengthen market connections.
“These initiatives are positioning Arunachal Pradesh as a crucial link between India’s domestic markets and global value chains,” the Chief Minister added.
Khandu stressed that sustainable trade and investment transcend mere profit. “They encompass people, progress, and partnerships,” he stated, inviting investors and entrepreneurs to pursue long-term collaborations with local communities and enterprises.
He expressed optimism that RBSM 2025 would act as a launchpad for a new era of economic growth, collaboration, and prosperity in Arunachal Pradesh. “This Meet will initiate a transformative journey for our state — one that fortifies our economy and empowers our populace,” Khandu concluded.
