Chandigarh, Feb 15 (NationPress) The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has experienced a significant uplift as Punjab BJP Vice-President and two-time legislator Arvind Khanna has officially joined the party along with various BJP officials, including the district president.
In his welcoming remarks, party President Sukhbir Badal stated, “The storm that will displace Delhi parties from Punjab has commenced today.” He further appointed Khanna as the ‘halka’ in-charge of the Sangrur constituency.
Badal acknowledged Khanna's dedicated service to the people of Sangrur for the past twenty years, emphasizing his role in implementing numerous social initiatives through the Umeed Foundation, which he leads.
“He is one of the few leaders who genuinely believe in selfless service and giving back to society,” Badal remarked.
During the event, Khanna reflected on his political journey with the Akali Dal, calling his return a homecoming. He noted that the public still remembers the remarkable development achieved during the Akali administrations. “They desire a revival of those days,” he asserted, expressing admiration for Badal's altruistic efforts during last year's floods in Punjab.
Additionally, Badal welcomed several other BJP leaders, including District BJP president Dharminder Singh Dullat, former Municipal Council presidents Harbans Singh Garcha and Deepak Aggarwal, along with Daljit Singh Sekhon, executive member of the state BJP committee, Manjula Sharma, district president of the BJP Mahila Morcha, ex-president of the truck union Gurmeet Singh Kaka, and block presidents Boota Singh, Narinder Kumar Shally, Navdeep Singh Nippa, and Harmel Singh.
A host of leaders from the BJP and Congress in regions such as Dirba, Sunam, Dhuri, and Barnala also joined the Akali Dal alongside Khanna.
Badal urged the public to support the SAD, which genuinely reflects their aspirations as a regional party.
“We are dedicated to tackling the gangster culture that has infiltrated Punjab due to AAP,” he stated, criticizing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for leading the state into an era of lawlessness and drug issues.
