Patna, March 13 (NationPress) An Assistant Sub-Inspector tragically lost his life during a confrontation with criminals in the Araria district of Bihar after his team apprehended a suspect.
The victim has been named as Rajiv Ranjan Mall, an ASI who had been stationed at Fulkaha police station in Araria for the past two years. Mall hailed from Janakinagar village, located under Nayanagar police station, in Munger district.
On Wednesday, Mall and his team attempted to arrest the suspect, Anmol Yadav. They encountered severe resistance from Yadav's associates, resulting in a physical confrontation.
During the clash, Mall collapsed and suffered critical injuries.
He was immediately transported to Araria Sadar Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
In the aftermath of this incident, a significant police presence has been established at Araria Sadar Hospital to avert any further unrest.
The police confirmed that Yadav was apprehended but his accomplices regrouped and attacked, leaving Mall in a critical state.
In the midst of the chaos, Mall lost consciousness, and the mob managed to free the suspect. The injured officer was subsequently rushed to Araria Sadar Hospital.
“Our team successfully apprehended Anmol Yadav, but his associates overwhelmed the police, allowing him to escape. ASI Rajiv Ranjan Mall collapsed during the altercation and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead,” stated Anjani Kumar, SP of Araria.
“Mall was not attacked by villagers; he fell during the scuffle and sustained severe injuries. A heavy police force is deployed in Araria to maintain peace,” Kumar added.
“We have initiated a manhunt to re-capture Yadav and identify those involved in the attack,” Kumar stated.
This incident has left the Police Department in shock.
“We will enforce strict measures against those implicated in this attack,” he emphasized.
The atmosphere remains tense in Araria.
Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, has criticized the Nitish government regarding the perceived decline in law and order in the state.
In response, the state government has defended its record by highlighting improvements in security, contrasting it with the past “jungle raj” during the tenure of his parents, Lalu and Rabri.
