Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday, 18 August unveiled an AI-driven blueprint for the state's school education system, committing to deploy artificial intelligence across attendance tracking, foundational learning assessments, and teacher support to build what he described as 'future-ready classrooms' in Assam.

According to the roadmap shared by Sarma, the state plans to introduce AI-powered attendance and student-tracking systems across schools. These systems are designed to monitor student participation in real time and flag early warning signs among children who may be disengaging from education — a critical intervention in a state that has historically grappled with dropout challenges at the primary and upper-primary levels.
