Assam Chief Minister Convenes Meeting with NDA Legislators and Ministers

Guwahati, Jan 3 (NationPress) Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a significant meeting on Thursday with the MPs and MLAs of the BJP and its coalition allies in the state to focus on the development of Assam.
The BJP collaborates with two parties: Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the United People’s Party Liberal (UUPL) in Assam. Representatives from these parties, including ministers, were present at the session.
Additionally, BJP ministers from the state participated in the meeting.
In a post shared on X, CM Sarma stated, “Today at Lok Sewa Bhawan, I engaged in comprehensive discussions with NDA MPs, MLAs, and heads of all autonomous councils to guarantee our welfare schemes reach every individual.”
The Chief Minister recently attributed the progress in Assam to the double-engine government model of the BJP both at the Centre and the state level.
Sarma remarked: "The Double Engine Government in Delhi and Dispur is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of Assam’s citizens. Thanks to the intervention of our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and the proactive measures of Adarniya Shri @AmitShah ji, over 9 lakh residents in Assam had their #Aadhaar biometrics unlocked in 2024, facilitating easy access to all government services and benefits."
Previously, the Assam Chief Minister highlighted: "There were over 9 lakh individuals in Assam unable to obtain Aadhaar cards due to locked biometrics during the NRC updating process. These citizens encountered obstacles in receiving scholarships and other government entitlements. We established a cabinet sub-committee to investigate the issue."
According to the Chief Minister, the cabinet sub-committee concluded that there was no correlation between Aadhaar cards and NRC, thus the 9 lakh individuals in the state should be granted their Aadhaar cards.
“Recognizing the hardships faced by the people, we escalated this matter to the central government. After two years of persistent discussions, the center has agreed to issue Aadhaar cards to them. The UIDAI authority has been informed accordingly,” he added, indicating that 9,35,642 individuals will receive their Aadhaar cards.
