Guwahati, Feb 21 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that Assam is on the brink of becoming the industrial nucleus of eastern and northeastern India. He emphasized that the state is undergoing a significant transformation under the BJP's double-engine government.
During a public gathering following the laying of the foundation stone for the new 10th Battalion of Assam Police campus in Kamrup district, HM Shah highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has earmarked approximately Rs 15 lakh crore for the development of Assam, setting the stage for rapid industrial growth and infrastructure expansion.
He mentioned that in the forthcoming five years, the residents of Assam will experience a significant industrial surge, leading to job creation and further fortifying the state's economy.
"Assam is decisively advancing towards becoming a pivotal industrial hub in the eastern and northeastern region," stated HM Shah.
Focusing on the government's measures against encroachment, the Union Home Minister noted that the BJP-led administrations at both the Centre and state levels have liberated over one lakh bighas of land from encroachers.
He also pointed out that the new police campus will be built on 174 bighas of land previously occupied by encroachers.
HM Shah remarked that challenges once perceived as security threats are now being transformed into advantages for security forces through enhanced infrastructure, better training, and improved facilities.
"Concerns about security have evolved into a robust asset for our forces," he added.
Furthermore, he highlighted the comprehensive infrastructure development in Assam in recent years, including significant improvements in road accessibility, railway systems, and bridge constructions throughout the state.
According to HM Shah, the enhanced infrastructure has not only sped up economic activities but also improved connectivity and accessibility across various regions of Assam.
The Union Home Minister affirmed that the Centre is dedicated to the all-round development of Assam, with an emphasis on peace, progress, and prosperity.
He concluded that effective governance, decisive action against encroachment, and consistent investment in infrastructure are collectively fostering the emergence of a revitalized Assam.
