Kohima, March 31 (NationPress) The Assam Rifles executed a thorough two-day drone training exercise in the Peren district of Nagaland, focusing on enhancing tactical surveillance and technical skills, as reported by defence officials on Tuesday.

According to Defence spokesman Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, the Assam Rifles, part of the Army's Spear Corps, conducted an extensive drone training session at the Drone Training Node located in Jalukie, Nagaland.

The program featured challenging flight drills and realistic scenario simulations, emphasizing the use of unmanned aerial vehicles for various operational tasks.

Present at the exercise was the force's Deputy Inspector General (DIG), 6 Sector, Brig M.S. Jamwal, who conducted a thorough inspection of the teams' preparations.

The DIG evaluated the technical arrangements and expressed his appreciation for the high level of readiness exhibited by the operators, as noted by Lt Col Rawat.

"His visit highlighted the significance of integrating advanced technology into regular monitoring and security operations," Lt Col Rawat added.

During his engagement with the participants, Brig. Jamwal urged them to execute their duties with precision and to persist in refining their specialized skills.

He emphasized the increasing relevance of aerial technology as an essential asset for successful modern operations, encouraging all personnel to commit to mastering these evolving platforms to enhance regional security.

Lt Col Rawat remarked that the event concluded with a series of successful tactical displays, showcasing excellent coordination and technical proficiency. This exercise reinforces the Assam Rifles' commitment to remaining at the cutting edge of technological advancements, ensuring that their personnel are well-prepared to navigate the complexities of contemporary challenges.

Additionally, in a vibrant celebration of community, culture, and wellness, the Mopin Marathon took place in Aalo, located in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district, coinciding with the Mopin festival festivities.

Embodying the festive spirit of Mopin, a significant agricultural festival for the Galo community, the event showcased values of unity, prosperity, and collective well-being, as highlighted by Lt Col Rawat.

The marathon featured two categories—5 km and 10 km—and saw enthusiastic participation from over 200 local residents alongside 50 Army personnel.

This event united civilians and soldiers, fostering mutual trust and shared objectives through physical activity. The lively turnout and spirited environment highlighted the rising interest in fitness-oriented public events in the region.

Beyond competition, the marathon conveyed a broader social message, promoting physical fitness, encouraging healthier lifestyles, and reinforcing community ties through a meaningful fusion of sport and tradition.

By associating a public sporting event with the Mopin celebrations, the marathon infused a modern aspect into a festival deeply rooted in social unity and prosperity.

Cash prizes were awarded to winners in both men's and women's divisions for the 5 km and 10 km races. The Mopin Marathon served as a fitting tribute to Aalo’s festive spirit, cultural heritage, and commitment to promoting healthy living, as stated by Lt Col Rawat.
