Assam Rifles Trains Over 600 Individuals in Manipur to Foster Employment Opportunities

Imphal, Dec 27 (NationPress) Showcasing its unwavering dedication to empowering young people in the conflict-ridden region of Manipur, the Assam Rifles has successfully trained 660 men and women this year, enhancing their skills across various trades, according to officials on Friday.

A Defence representative stated that the Assam Rifles has exhibited its steadfast commitment to uplifting the numerous unemployed individuals through a range of skill development and vocational training programs.

These tireless efforts have benefited over 660 individuals statewide, equipping them with crucial skills that have fostered self-esteem, created job opportunities, and offered hope in a region facing numerous challenges.

The representative highlighted the struggles in the state, which include ethnic strife and a lack of sustainable job opportunities.

“In light of the complex socio-economic environment, the skill development initiatives of the Assam Rifles have proven to be a transformative influence,” the official remarked.

In the districts of Imphal East and Imphal West, where ambitions often clash with the harsh realities of conflict, two carefully designed skill development programs trained 164 boys and girls.

Out of these, 114 individuals have successfully overcome obstacles and secured jobs with prestigious hospitality companies across India, paving the way for brighter futures.

In the tranquil yet resource-limited hills of Ukhrul district, 52 individuals were trained in practical trades such as computer operations, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and vehicle mechanics, while 44 women acquired vocational skills like baking, candle-making, and jewelry-making, turning their skills into paths towards self-sufficiency, as reported by the spokesman.

In the tribal-centric districts of Tengnoupal and Chandel, where limited connectivity and development challenges prevail, 72 men and women were trained in essential skills such as carpentry, wall painting, masonry, plumbing, vehicle mechanics, and tailoring.

Efforts continued in Churachandpur, where 130 individuals gained expertise in computer literacy, woodwork, plumbing, and vehicle mechanics, paving the way for economic stability.

In Thoubal and parts of Chandel, 202 individuals received training in various fields including music, first aid, tailoring, and other practical trades, showcasing the extensive commitment of the Assam Rifles to uplift every area within the State.

The spokesman noted that in a region longing for peace and prosperity, these initiatives serve as more than mere skill-building exercises; they act as lifelines that have significantly impacted the empowerment of youth and women, generated employment, stimulated the local economy, and uplifted the spirits of the people of Manipur.

By opening new doors and providing a crucial source of opportunities, the Assam Rifles remains committed to its mission of fostering peace, stability, and prosperity in Manipur, the spokesman concluded.
