New Delhi, Jan 31 (NationPress) National Highways are essential assets of our nation, and we have prioritized improving their quality and safety, stated Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.
During the stakeholder consultation workshop in New Delhi, hosted by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Gadkari highlighted that technology serves as a powerful enabler, and the adoption of automated intelligent machine-aided construction (AIMC) represents a significant advancement.
“We have successfully implemented the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway pilot project, and we plan to extend this technology to additional projects shortly,” asserted the Union Minister.
“India has made substantial progress in creating world-class roads and highways that have markedly improved our infrastructure. Every stakeholder plays a crucial role in this transformation. As we advance, utilizing cutting-edge technology such as sensors, satellites, and real-time monitoring will be vital in accelerating our progress,” he observed.
With ongoing technological innovations, we are dedicated to aligning India’s road infrastructure with Vision 2047 and elevating our National Highway network to a global standard, added Gadkari.
According to V. Umashankar, Secretary of MoRTH, the roads and highways constructed today will serve our nation for many years ahead.
“Thus, time and quality of construction are the two vital parameters we are focusing on. Compaction is a significant aspect of road construction, and current technology enables us to tackle the challenges related to it,” he stated.
Vishal Chauhan, Member (Administration) at NHAI, stressed that the feedback from this stakeholder consultation workshop will aid in transforming traditional NH construction methods into a data-driven approach by incorporating AI-MC technology.
NHAI is successfully executing a pilot project of AIMC on the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway, where automated and intelligent machines such as GPS-aided Motor Grader, Intelligent Compactor, and stringless Paver have been utilized.
