Why Did MoS Bandi Sanjay Call Urdu University Notice ‘Unacceptable’?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Jan 7 (NationPress) The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, expressed that the show cause notices issued by the Telangana government to Moulana Azad National Urdu University regarding unused land are both shameful and unacceptable.
The BJP leader took to ‘X’ to criticize the Congress-led government, warning that if any attempt is made to seize the university's land, he would align with students and initiate a statewide protest.
“The actions of the Congress government targeting land designated for students’ future is disgraceful. Issuing notices to Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Hyderabad, questioning the land usage, is intolerable. Is this the initial move to sell off university property valued in thousands of crores?” he questioned.
“A government incapable of providing essential services is now casting doubt on land allocations made for education? Encroached lands are rampant across the state,” he remarked.
He also raised concerns about the lack of action against Owaisi over the encroachment of Salkam Cheruvu in the Old City and the commercialization of education. “Why not reclaim these lands for public benefit?” he asked.
The BJP leader referred to the Fatime Owaisi Educational Campus, established by Asaduddin Owaisi, president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), and his brother, Akbaruddin Owaisi, which allegedly occupies the Full Tank Level (FTL) of Salkam Cheruvu lake in Chandrayangutta.
“Any interference with university and educational lands is a red line. This is a clear warning. The Telangana government must revoke any decision regarding the takeover of university lands. If they do not comply, I will stand in solidarity with students and initiate a statewide movement,” Bandi Sanjay stated.
He is the second prominent leader to support the students of Moulana Azad National Urdu University. K. T. Rama Rao, working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), condemned the notice to the university and declared that BRS would collaborate with students to safeguard the university land.
Reports indicate that revenue authorities have issued a show cause notice to MANUU Registrar Ishtiaq Ahmad, demanding an explanation as to why the unoccupied land within the campus in Manikonda village, Gandipet mandal, should not be reclaimed, given that it has not been utilized for its intended educational purpose.
