Kolkata, April 27 (NationPress) Trinamool Congress General Secretary and party Lok Sabha member Abhishek Banerjee stated on Sunday that the Union government must take steps to recover Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“Simply relying on ‘surgical strikes’ or making ‘symbolic threats’ toward Pakistan will not suffice following the Pahalgam attack. It’s crucial that we send a clear message in a way they comprehend. It’s time to reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). That’s final,” emphasized the Trinamool MP.

He also condemned the Union government for allegedly prioritizing a narrative over a thorough investigation into the lapses surrounding the Pahalgam incident.

“In recent days, I have been observing the actions of mainstream media and those leading the Union government. Rather than thoroughly examining the failures that led to this unprecedented terror attack in Pahalgam, they appear focused on advancing a narrative that serves a particular political party,” Banerjee remarked, indirectly referencing the BJP.

He insisted that it is essential for all parties involved to transcend trivial politics and effectively address this matter once and for all.

The leadership of the Trinamool Congress has previously declared their support for any actions taken by the Union government in response to the Pahalgam attack.

Among the tourists who lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack, three hailed from West Bengal, including a Central Intelligence Bureau official.

Additionally, following the Pahalgam assault, a resident from Nadia district in West Bengal, Havaldar Jhantu Ali Sheikh, who was part of the Para Special Forces of the Indian army, was killed in a terrorist ambush last week.

It is crucial to approach Abhishek Banerjee’s call for reclaiming PoK with an objective lens. His statements highlight significant national security concerns while also addressing the importance of thorough investigations into terrorist incidents.
