New Delhi, May 12 (NationPress) A total of six undocumented Bangladeshi immigrants, who have resided in Haryana for the past five years, were apprehended from a slum area in Bawana, according to a Delhi Police official.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Aditya Gautam stated that these individuals had entered India through West Bengal and were employed at a brick kiln in Kharkhoda, Haryana, prior to their move to Delhi.
The individuals taken into custody include Sahidul Hossain (45), his spouse Parul Begum (35), and their four minor children, as reported by the police.
Initially, the suspects denied their origins from Bangladesh but were unable to present any Indian identification documents. Following prolonged questioning, the police discovered Bangladeshi ID cards and obtained a complete confession.
During the interrogation, Sahidul Hossain disclosed that he had been living in India illegally for five years with his family, working as a casual laborer in brick-making enterprises, earning around Rs 5,000 weekly.
He mentioned that a fellow villager from Bangladesh, Kavinath, encouraged him to migrate to India with the promise of better job prospects.
The journey commenced with a bus ride from their hometown to Balahat, where they illegally crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border through unguarded agricultural fields. After crossing, they took an auto-rickshaw to Dinhata Railway Station.
From there, they boarded the Brahmaputra Mail to reach Delhi. Upon arrival, Kavinath returned to Bangladesh, while Sahidul began his work in various brick kilns around Delhi.
DCP Gautam indicated that measures are being taken to deport them back to Bangladesh after all legal processes are completed.
The arrests were made following surveillance triggered by an alert from Constable Prateek. A team from the Crime Branch Southern Range was set up under the guidance of ACP Naresh Solanki to apprehend the suspects.
