Kolkata, March 14 (NationPress) - In a significant development, two nationals from Bangladesh have been apprehended at the India-Bangladesh international boundary in the North 24 Parganas district for allegedly entering India unlawfully, as reported by a senior police official on Saturday.
The police revealed that the duo was caught near the border in the Hakimpur area under the jurisdiction of the Swarupnagar Police Station.
The individuals have been named as Vivek Mandal and Nazrul Islam.
Authorities stated that the pair attracted the attention of patrolling officers while reportedly wandering in the border zone during the late hours. Their suspicious behavior led to their detention for an interrogation.
Upon questioning, both admitted their Bangladeshi origins and confessed to crossing the border illegally to enter India. Subsequently, the Swarupnagar Police took them into custody.
The detained individuals were then presented before the Basirhat Sub-divisional Court on Saturday.
