NCP Leader Jay Pawar: Baramati's Decision is Clear Ahead of Bypoll
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Baramati, April 4 (NationPress) During a deeply moving event that brought many supporters to tears, Jay Pawar asserted on Saturday that, while the opposition is entitled to contest the upcoming election, the residents of Baramati have already made their choice clear.
“Dada (Ajit Pawar) may be absent from our midst, but he remains alive in our hearts and is reflected in our actions,” he remarked.
He acknowledged the tireless contributions of the Pawar family, including Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar, in fostering Baramati's progress over the years.
Jay Pawar was addressing the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) workers’ meeting to review preparations for the Baramati bypoll, scheduled for April 23, in which his mother, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, is the party's candidate.
“It is with a heavy heart that my last address was before Ajit Dada, but I find solace knowing he witnessed my journey,” he expressed.
The gathering, cast in a somber light due to the recent loss of a senior leader known as “Dada,” saw Jay Pawar vowing to carry forward the political legacy of his family.
He reminisced about his inaugural campaign speech in 2014, where the late leader expressed both surprise and pride in his speaking prowess.
He also drew attention to the late leader’s exemplary work ethic, noting that during his recent visits to hail-damaged farms, farmers commented that if “Dada” were alive, government officials would have arrived immediately to offer assistance.
Jay Pawar underscored his dedication to realizing the dreams left behind, particularly by enhancing infrastructure at Vidya Pratishthan and the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area, expanding the MIDC to attract more businesses and job opportunities, and committing to visiting every village to sustain the dialogue the Pawar family has always maintained with the community.
The meeting also referenced the “Black Day” of January 28, 2026, marking the date of the tragic incident.
Jay Pawar addressed the ongoing inquiry, confirming that both “Black Boxes” have been retrieved.
Voicing the concerns of numerous supporters, he questioned whether the occurrence was simply an accident or something more malevolent.
“I cannot ascertain if it was an accident or deliberate harm, but those who witnessed the footage harbor doubts,” he stated.
He called for the swift apprehension of those accountable for maintenance or oversight, likening the scenario to legal actions taken against engineers in the event of structural failures.
The meeting concluded with a powerful show of solidarity from party workers, who chanted slogans of unity as the NCP gears up for a crucial electoral contest under the shadow of their late leader’s legacy.
Sunetra Pawar is set to submit her nomination on April 6.
