Bengal: Competing Junior Doctors' Association Calls for Inquiry Into Key Figures of RG Kar Movement

Kolkata, Dec 10 (NationPress) The West Bengal Junior Doctors Association (WBJDA), created as a rival to the West Bengal Junior Doctors’ Front (WBJDF), the main organization leading the fight for justice in the tragic rape and murder of a female junior doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital, has called for disciplinary measures against a WBJDF member who is a key figure in the movement.
The WBJDA has urged Chief Secretary Manoj Pant to launch an investigation into the actions of WBJDF member Dr. Asfakulla Naiya.
WBJDA has accused Naiya of practicing privately while being a post-graduate trainee, a position that is not intended for private practice, thereby breaching service regulations.
Moreover, the WBJDA claims that Naiya falsely represented himself as an “MS-ENT” before completing his training.
"This misrepresentation has misled the public into thinking they were receiving care from a qualified specialist. Patients placed their trust in him as a bona fide doctor, unaware that he lacked the essential qualifications to provide safe and effective treatment. Such actions not only breach ethical standards but also constitute a serious fraud against those who relied on him," stated the WBJDA.
The organization has insisted that the Chief Secretary approach this matter with the utmost seriousness and conduct an investigation through an impartial committee outside of R.G. Kar, where Naiya is currently affiliated.
"Dr. Naiya's conduct has not only eroded public trust but has also jeopardized the integrity of the healthcare system. He must be made a cautionary example to prevent similar fraudulent activities in the future. This will serve as a deterrent for other medical professionals against engaging in unethical practices," added the WBJFDA.
