Kolkata, Jan 24 (NationPress) The District Magistrate, who also serves as the District Electoral Officer of Murshidabad district in West Bengal, took action on Saturday afternoon by filing an FIR against a Trinamool Congress legislator representing the Farakka Assembly constituency. This individual is accused of orchestrating vandalism at a hearing center focused on claims and objections related to the draft voters' list in Farakka, an incident that occurred over a week ago.
Notably, this FIR was registered nearly 48 hours past the deadline established by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The ECI had instructed the District Electoral Officer of Murshidabad to file the FIR against Manirul Islam by 5 p.m. on Thursday and to notify the ECI accordingly.
