Bengal School Employment Scam: Ayan Shil, the Middleman, Receives Bail in ED Investigation

Kolkata, Dec 2 (NationPress) A single-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court has granted bail to businessman and promoter Ayan Shil in a case filed against him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) concerning the multi-crore cash for school job scandal in West Bengal.
Despite the bail granted on Monday, Shil is unlikely to be released immediately since the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is also investigating the school job fraud, has recently declared him arrested in the case.
On Monday, the single-judge bench, presided over by Justice Suvra Ghosh, approved Shil's bail against a personal bond of Rs 10,00,000. The court instructed Shil to hand over his passport to the investigating authorities and to refrain from changing his mobile number. Justice Ghosh also mandated Shil to fully cooperate with the investigation.
Shil was apprehended in March of the previous year following a lengthy raid and search operation at his home, linked to the school job case. During that raid, investigators seized several significant documents related to the alleged scam, including optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets utilized in the written examinations for appointing teaching and non-teaching staff in state-run schools across West Bengal.
Additionally, the ED officials uncovered critical documents associated with Shil's participation in the multi-crore recruitment irregularities at various municipalities within the state. Subsequently, the CBI initiated a parallel investigation into the recruitment issues in these municipalities.
The primary allegations against Shil are that he served as one of the key middlemen in the case, leveraging his agent network to extract approximately Rs 1,70 crore from candidates who paid to secure school jobs.
