Kolkata, March 7 (NationPress) A special court in Kolkata on Friday approved bail for private promoter Ayan Sil in the cash-for-school job scandal.
The court granted Sil bail in the case registered by the CBI against a personal bond of Rs 1,00,000.
Previously, Sil was also granted bail in cases initiated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) related to this matter.
However, despite receiving bail from both CBI and ED, Sil will remain incarcerated.
He continues to be detained due to pending cases filed by both agencies regarding the multi-crore municipalities' recruitment irregularities in West Bengal.
Sil was arrested in March 2023 by ED officials in connection with the school job case. During his arrest, officials seized numerous documents from his residence that shed light on recruitment irregularities in municipalities.
Subsequently, Sil was also shown as arrested by both ED and CBI for the municipalities' recruitment irregularities.
In this matter, Sil is accused of facilitating employment in at least 17 municipalities in West Bengal for a fee, with a total of 1,821 illegal recruitments made across these municipalities.
The CBI has traced Rs 200 crore in illegal proceeds linked to the recruitment scam.
The majority of these 17 municipalities, where such irregularities occurred, are located in the North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas districts.
