Bhupinder Hooda Urges Centre to Engage in Dialogue with Protesting Farmers

Chandigarh, Dec 12 (NationPress) Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda stated on Thursday that the BJP government at the Centre should abandon its unyielding approach and initiate discussions with farmers, especially since their leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on a fast unto death for the last 16 days, and his health is worsening.

Hooda insisted that the government must address their demands and put an end to Dallewal's fast immediately.

Speaking to the media, Hooda remarked that farmers are not presenting new requests but rather reminding the government of its previous commitments.

“This is the same commitment that the government made to farmers when the farmers' protest was concluded. Farmers seek a guarantee on MSP (minimum support price), and this demand is entirely legitimate,” he stated.

Hooda further noted that preventing farmers from traveling to Delhi is an anti-democratic action taken by the BJP.

“Instead of silencing the farmers' voices, the government should pursue resolutions through dialogue. In a democracy, every individual has the right to move freely and express their opinions peacefully. However, the BJP government is infringing upon this right of farmers,” he added.

The two-time Chief Minister mentioned that farmers have agreed to proceed to Delhi without tractors and trolleys, adhering to the government's assurances. “In such circumstances, hindering them is utterly undemocratic.”

Regarding the bomb explosion at a club in Gurugram, Hooda commented that such incidents are indicative of a deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

He criticized the BJP government in the state as being in a state of “deep slumber”, allowing criminals to operate without fear.

He asserted that the primary duty of any government is to safeguard its citizens, but since the BJP assumed power, it has completely neglected this responsibility.

He further stated that this neglect is the reason behind the escalating crime rate in Haryana, leaving residents feeling insecure.
