New Delhi, March 4 (NationPress) The Bhutanese Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Lyonpo D.N. Dhungyel, has landed in New Delhi on Wednesday to participate in the esteemed Raisina Dialogue.

According to a spokesperson from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Randhir Jaiswal, Dhungyel's trip to India is expected to further enhance the bilateral relationship.

"We extend a warm welcome to Lyonpo D.N. Dhungyel, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Bhutan, as he arrives to engage in the 11th Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi. The partnership between India and Bhutan is founded on profound mutual trust and goodwill. This visit is poised to add further energy to India-Bhutan relations," Jaiswal shared on X.

The Raisina Dialogue, scheduled from March 5-7, is recognized as India’s leading conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, held annually in New Delhi since 2016. This three-day event is organized by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and gathers global leaders, policymakers, scholars, industry professionals, and journalists to deliberate on pivotal international matters.

Earlier, on February 18, Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi evaluated the progress of bilateral cooperation across various crucial sectors, including energy, connectivity, development partnerships, and people-to-people relations, during the India-AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.

The MEA indicated that both leaders expressed their commitment to leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) for inclusive, human-centric growth and agreed to bolster collaboration in the AI and digital technology domains. They reaffirmed their dedication to fortifying the India-Bhutan partnership anchored in trust, goodwill, and mutual respect.

India and Bhutan maintain a tradition of regular high-level exchanges while continuously seeking new cooperation avenues, building upon their deep-seated connections in energy, infrastructure, and cultural exchanges.

In November, PM Modi undertook a two-day visit to Thimphu aimed at strengthening the India-Bhutan partnership and reaffirming India's commitment to its Neighbourhood First Policy.

This visit was significant as it coincided with the exposition of the Sacred Piprahwa Relics of Lord Buddha from India. PM Modi also offered prayers at the Holy Relics in Tashichhodzong, Thimphu, and took part in the Global Peace Prayer Festival hosted by the Bhutanese government.
