Patna, April 8 (NationPress) In a remarkable rescue mission, the emergency response unit DAIL 112 of Saharsa Police in Bihar successfully liberated a 16-year-old minor girl who had been trapped in the flesh trade for five years in a red light district in Saharsa.

The operation occurred on Monday night after the victim made a distress call to the emergency helpline.

According to DSP (Headquarters) Kamleshwari Prasad Singh of Saharsa police, the girl had been living and exploited in the red light area controlled by Viraj Nat, who allegedly took her into custody through a human trafficker and abused her for years.

The girl shared that she had traveled to Patna with her parents when she was about 10 years old but got separated from them at a railway station.

She was subsequently lured by a stranger and handed over to Viraj Nat, who initially made her perform domestic chores and later coerced her into prostitution at the brothel.

“The victim was confined in the brothel for the last five years under duress. She does not recall the name of her village, only that her home is near the Nepal border,” stated DSP Singh.

Authorities have sealed Viraj Nat's brothel and filed charges of human trafficking, prostitution, and unlawful confinement against the accused.

Officials are collaborating with Nepal Police to help trace the girl's family.

As per an official, human traffickers often target impoverished families to acquire their minor children, particularly girls. Once trapped, they are promised jobs as domestic helpers but are later forced into the flesh trade in urban areas.

Many such victims are separated from their families and exploited for years before being rescued.

Law enforcement agencies have reiterated their dedication to identifying and dismantling such networks and ensuring rehabilitation and justice for rescued minors.
