Patna, Jan 14 (NationPress) Bihar's Labour Resources Minister, Santosh Kumar Singh, has been targeted with a life-threatening communication via a WhatsApp call and a message that demands an extortion sum of Rs 30 lakh.
As per the minister's account, the caller explicitly threatened him, saying, "Pay the money or you will be killed at any time and place." Singh initially ignored the WhatsApp call, but a menacing message soon arrived. In this message, the caller identified himself with a specific gang, Lawrence Bishnoi, and issued a ransom demand.
The Kotwali Police Station has taken action regarding this matter and is currently conducting an investigation. Police officials have visited the minister's residence to collect evidence aimed at identifying and capturing those responsible for the extortion attempt. This incident has sparked serious concerns about the safety of public officials in Bihar, prompting authorities to remain on high alert.
The threatening message directed at Bihar's Labour Resources Minister, Santosh Kumar Singh, included a frightening ultimatum: "If you wish to safeguard your life, you must send Rs 30 lakh. Just like Baba Siddiqui was murdered, you will face the same fate if you fail to comply. We are aware of your vehicle's number and can track you to execute our threat."
Such a message has exacerbated worries regarding the minister's safety. Kotwali Police Station in-charge Rajan Kumar has commenced an inquiry into the threat, with DSP Krishna Murari Prasad confirming that the situation is under investigation.
“Following the receipt of the call and the threatening message, we are in the process of gathering further details. The complainant has submitted a formal application at Kotwali Police Station, and we are actively pursuing the matter. The caller will be identified shortly,” Prasad stated. This extortion threat appears to mirror a recent pattern of intimidation in Bihar, including a similar incident involving Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, who was targeted by a gang.
In light of this alarming trend aimed at high-profile individuals in the state, police have intensified their investigation and reinforced security measures.
