Patna, Jan 9 (NationPress) In light of the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi charging 41 individuals, including RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav, and Rabri Devi, prominent NDA leaders in Bihar have vehemently criticized the party leadership and demanded their resignations from various positions.
Bihar Cabinet Minister Dilip Jaiswal stated that the court's ruling was based on substantial evidence provided by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
“The CBI presented compelling evidence against Lalu Prasad Yadav and others. The court allowed ample time for the accused to defend themselves. After hearing both parties, the court’s decision is now binding on Lalu Prasad Yadav, his family, and all others implicated,” Jaiswal remarked.
JD(U) MLC and Chief Spokesperson Neeraj Kumar escalated the critique, referencing the court's comments.
“The Rouse Avenue Court has categorically indicated that Lalu Prasad Yadav was operating a criminal-political syndicate. As a convicted individual, he should promptly resign as the national president of the RJD,” Kumar asserted.
In his statements about Rabri Devi, Neeraj Kumar claimed that land was acquired from her relative in return for job placements.
“The land-for-job scandal involved land taken from Rabri Devi’s relative Nata Choudhary for employment opportunities. Thus, Rabri Devi must also step down from her role as Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council,” he stated.
He added that the list of alleged transgressions by the Lalu family is extensive and called for Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Tejashwi Yadav to resign from their respective roles.
The Rouse Avenue Court, under the direction of CBI Special Judge Vishal Gogne, framed charges against 41 individuals, including Tejashwi Yadav, Rabri Devi, Tej Pratap Yadav, Misa Bharti, and Hema Yadav, following arguments regarding the CBI’s charge sheet.
The court noted that Lalu Prasad Yadav misused his official capacity, and the alleged actions were conducted in a manner akin to a criminal syndicate.
Considering the allegations of exchanging land for railway jobs to be prima facie accurate, charges were filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, along with Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.
Conversely, the court acquitted 52 accused due to insufficient evidence, while allowing the trial to continue against the remaining accused.
The CBI had identified 103 accused in its charge sheet, of which five have passed away.
In the ruling on Friday, 52 defendants were acquitted, and the remaining will now face a comprehensive trial.
During the hearing, all accused except Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi were present, including Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, and Misa Bharti.
With the framing of charges, the case has officially entered the trial phase, intensifying the political atmosphere in Bihar.
