Himachal Pradesh BJP President Rajeev Bindal on Wednesday, 8 July launched a sharp counter-attack against state Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh of the Indian National Congress (INC), declaring that neither he nor the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 'requires any certificate from the Congress leader.' Bindal's remarks came in response to what he described as 'irresponsible statements' from the ruling party's leadership in Shimla.

Bindal's 35-Year Record as His Own Defence

Bindal asserted that his 35 years of continuous service as an elected public representative speak for themselves. 'The trust reposed in me by the people is the only certificate I need,' he said, dismissing Singh's remarks as politically motivated. He argued that Congress leaders, stung by consecutive electoral defeats, are now resorting to rhetoric rather than governance.

Electoral Setbacks Driving Congress Frustration, Says BJP

Bindal pointed to the Congress party's performance in the recent Panchayati Raj, Urban Local Body, and Municipal Corporation elections as evidence that voters have already delivered their verdict. According to Bindal, the repeated setbacks suffered by Congress in these local polls have left its leadership frustrated, and that frustration is now spilling over into 'irresponsible political statements' that cannot distract from the ruling government's failures.

Unemployment and Broken Promises at the Core

The BJP chief levelled pointed accusations against the Congress-led state government, alleging it has caused 'immense hardship' to the people of Himachal Pradesh over the past four years. He specifically cited the government's unfulfilled pre-election pledges: Congress had promised five lakh employment opportunities and one lakh government jobs before coming to power, commitments he said remain unmet. 'The youth of Himachal Pradesh are demanding answers, while the government is busy changing the narrative,' Bindal said.

Ram Temple Remarks and Appeasement Politics Charge

Bindal also weighed in on the Ram Temple issue, arguing that Congress had historically obstructed the temple's construction at Lord Ram's birthplace 'for the sake of appeasement politics.' He said the temple's realisation came only after 'centuries of struggle and the sacrifices of thousands of devotees,' and that the party's current attempts to project itself as a supporter of Lord Ram are transparent to the people of the country.

BJP Vows to Hold Congress Accountable

Bindal concluded by reiterating that the BJP would continue to hold the Congress government accountable for every unfulfilled promise on unemployment, governance, and public welfare. He called on the state administration to address its failures directly rather than engaging in 'baseless political remarks.' With assembly elections on the horizon, both parties appear to be sharpening their narratives around jobs, governance credibility, and identity politics — a contest that will ultimately be decided by Himachal Pradesh's voters.
