Shimla, Jan 25 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Sukhu, officially opened the Bir paragliding center-cum-hotel located in the Kangra district on Saturday.

The newly established facility, developed by the HP Tourism Development Board under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, aims to enhance adventure tourism. With a total investment of Rs 9 crore, the building is strategically positioned in the center of Bir.

During the inauguration, the Chief Minister highlighted the growing popularity of adventure sports and tourism, which offer a distinctive combination of thrill, challenge, and cultural experiences.

The Bir paragliding center-cum-hotel will be managed collaboratively by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation and the ABV Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports based in Manali.

Parts of the facility will be allocated to the mountaineering institute for conducting paragliding training courses, while the remaining sections will serve as accommodation for tourists and locals visiting Bir.

The Chief Minister emphasized that this complex holds significant potential for generating revenue for the state, as it is expected to be unique in the country, catering to both tourists in Kangra and individuals interested in learning paragliding.

“Our government is committed to transforming Kangra district into a tourism hub. With the launch of this facility in Bir-Billing, the entire vicinity of Bir will reap numerous advantages,” he stated.

Bir-Billing has gained immense popularity among the youth, becoming one of the fastest-growing travel destinations, consistently buzzing with adventure seekers and travelers year-round.

This complex will provide a range of paragliding courses from basic to advanced levels, adhering to international standards. To maximize the use of this facility, a comprehensive hotel will also be established by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation alongside the training activities.
