Chandigarh, July 3 (NationPress) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is set to launch the inaugural national-level, two-day conference of chairpersons representing Urban Local Bodies from various states and union territories. The event will take place at the International Centre for Automotive Technology in Manesar, Gurugram, Haryana, on Thursday.
Attendees will include Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, host state Chief Minister Nayab Singh, Haryana Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, and other esteemed figures during the opening session.
This conference is designed to be a vital platform for emphasizing the significant role of Urban Local Bodies in an increasingly urbanized India. Its goal is to bolster democratic institutions, share successful strategies, and investigate innovative methods for urban governance in the modern context.
The conference centers around the theme: “Role of Urban Local Bodies in Strengthening Constitutional Democracy and Nation Building”.
During the event, delegates will engage in discussions on essential topics, including viewing Urban Local Bodies as foundational elements of democracy by establishing model practices and procedures for general council meetings; as engines for inclusive growth by enhancing municipal governance to meet constitutional requirements; as architects of 21st Century India by contributing to the ambition of Viksit Bharat by 2047; as instruments for women empowerment by fostering female leadership in society and politics; and as centers of innovation that improve public service delivery and elevate the quality of life for citizens.
The proceedings on Friday will open with presentations from five groups focusing on their specific sub-themes.
