Agartala, Aug 11 (NationPress) Tripura Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen, who recently underwent emergency surgery at a private hospital following an internal brain haemorrhage on August 8, has been relocated to Bengaluru for enhanced medical care, according to his family and medical professionals.
An official reported that at the request of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, two doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, arrived here on Sunday to evaluate Sen's health and the treatment protocol initially applied at Tripura Medical College and subsequently at a private facility.
“The team from AIIMS conducted a thorough assessment of Sen and discussed his medical condition with the doctors who had been overseeing his care since the onset of his illness. The AIIMS team confirmed that the preliminary management and timely brain decompression surgery were appropriate,” stated the private hospital in a medical bulletin.
The Speaker's son, Arijit Sen, who is also a physician, mentioned that his father's condition remains stable with all vital functions operating normally after the surgery.
“We have made the decision to transfer him to a hospital in Bangalore for further treatment,” he informed the media.
Arijit Sen expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Manik Saha and the medical staff for their effective management of his 72-year-old father's initial treatment.
The Speaker experienced a brain haemorrhage at Agartala railway station on August 8, just as he boarded a train to return to his hometown of Dharmanagar.
In a subtle response to criticism from a political party regarding the Speaker's treatment at a private facility rather than the Government Medical and GBP Hospital, a tertiary care institution for Heart, Brain, and other disorders, his son stated that it was the family's choice to seek treatment there.
“The patient is our father, and we will determine where he receives care. No one has the right to impose that decision on us. It is inappropriate to politicize the situation of an ailing individual,” remarked Arijit Sen.
