Shillong, April 17 (NationPress) The BJP's Meghalaya faction launched a fierce critique against the Congress on Thursday, alleging that it is deeply immersed in corruption, despite its claims of adhering to Mahatma Gandhi's values.

Speaking to the press, BJP Meghalaya State General Secretary Wankitbok Pohshna stated that the Congress can no longer conceal its corrupt activities, particularly as its leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are currently facing legal scrutiny over alleged financial misconduct in the National Herald case.

"The Congress, which professes to uphold truth, is now exposed. Their leaders have been charged under the law for the misuse of funds. This is not merely a protest, but a strategy to mislead the citizens of India," Pohshna remarked regarding the grand old party's protests against the ED's charge sheet.

He accused the Congress leadership of having misappropriated party funds to settle loans amounting to Rs 90 crore owed by Associated Journals Limited (AJL), the entity that published the National Herald newspaper.

Pohshna questioned the circumstances surrounding AJL's acquisition by Young Indian Pvt. Ltd., a company established in 2012, in which Sonia and Rahul possess a 76 percent stake.

According to Pohshna, the real estate holdings of AJL are now valued at nearly Rs 5,000 crore across India, raising significant concerns about the motives behind the financial transactions of the Congress party.

He noted that the ED has already initiated charge sheets against Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, with the investigation, which started in 2012, continuing to unveil critical information.

"What explanations will Congress provide to the people of Meghalaya and the rest of India now?" Pohshna inquired.

In response, Congress organized a nationwide protest on Wednesday against the ED's charge sheet, asserting that both Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are implicated in money laundering linked to the National Herald newspaper.
