Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 14 (NationPress) Senior BJP figure and former Union Minister of State V. Muraleedharan expressed his appreciation on Thursday for the NDA’s impressive showing in the Bihar Assembly elections, attributing the favorable results to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dedicated initiatives aimed at advancing India through effective policies and programs.
In contrast, the Congress party asserted that it was “the Election Commission that secured their victory in Bihar.”
Muraleedharan emphasized that the election results had laid bare the vulnerabilities of the Congress, which he claimed has been “decimated” despite its vigorous campaign efforts.
Highlighting the Left's disappointing performance, he noted that the CPI(M) managed to secure only one lead, and that was thanks to the support of the CPI(ML).
He pointed out that the decisive win in Bihar would invigorate the BJP's strategy for the upcoming local body elections in Kerala, stating, “This victory will provide a significant boost to the BJP in Kerala.”
However, the Congress party dismissed Muraleedharan’s assertions. Senior legislator Ramesh Chennithala remarked that the NDA had not genuinely won the election.
He accused that it was “the Election Commission that emerged victorious for them.”
In a discussion with reporters in Kerala, Chennithala warned that democracy in India was “in grave danger,” suggesting that the events unfolding in Bihar mirrored earlier occurrences in Maharashtra and Haryana.
He called upon all political factions to reflect on what he termed the escalating erosion of democratic principles.
As the counting process continues for the Bihar Assembly elections, BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla attributed the initial results to a strong pro-incumbency wave favoring the NDA under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
Poonawalla stated, “The return of the Bihar government signifies a clear pro-incumbency sentiment for the NDA under Prime Minister Modi, a trend we have consistently seen since 2014. Prime Minister Modi has successfully formed his government three times at the national level.”
He observed that the preliminary data from Bihar once again indicates that the electorate is endorsing continuity, stability, and what the party describes as a robust development model.
Moreover, early trends reveal that the BJP is emerging as the dominant party in the Bihar Assembly elections, currently leading in 85 out of 243 seats.
As of 1:30 p.m., the BJP was ahead in 90 seats, reaffirming its status as the single-largest party, while the Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) was leading in 81 seats.
