New Delhi, Feb 7 (NationPress) The BJP has responded to the Congress party's assertion that the Narendra Modi administration has fallen short in job creation across the nation. The ruling party released a fact sheet aimed at correcting misconceptions about job growth, revealing that under the Congress-led UPA, only 2.9 crore jobs were added over a span of ten years. In stark contrast, the NDA has successfully created 17.9 crore jobs, including 4.6 crore jobs in the year 2023-24 alone.

The BJP referenced NSSO data to illustrate that unemployment rose to 4.7 percent during the UPA era, while it has decreased under Modi’s leadership, falling from 5.3 percent in 2017-18 to 3.2 percent in 2023-24.

Additionally, the party noted a decline in rural unemployment rates, as indicated by the annual Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS).

The participation rate of women in the labor force (LFPR) has also seen an increase, climbing from 23.3 percent in 2017-18 to 37 percent in 2022-23. This growth was facilitated by 89.8 lakh Lakhpati Didis and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), empowering women, particularly in rural settings, to achieve an annual household income of at least Rs 1 lakh.

Highlighting the booming startup ecosystem in India, the BJP stated that the number of recognized startups has escalated from 452 in 2013 to 1.59 lakh by 2024, generating 17.2 lakh jobs in the process.

In November 2024 alone, 14.63 lakh new EPFO members were registered, showcasing a significant increase in job formalization, according to the BJP.

The party also emphasized the introduction of an internship program in the 2024-25 Budget, which has trained 14 crore youth under Skill India and will provide internships for 1 crore students over five years, collaborating with India's top 500 companies.

For each Rs 1 crore invested in infrastructure, approximately 200-250 man-years of employment are created across various sectors, the BJP fact sheet concludes.
