Did BJP Just Challenge Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge Over His RSS Comments?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Feb 16 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Karnataka unit chief B.Y. Vijayendra vehemently criticized state Minister Priyank Kharge on Monday for his contentious statements regarding the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and questioned the significance of the Congress party.
In a pointed remark, Vijayendra sarcastically stated, “Before critiquing the registration of other organizations, Kharge should first verify that the registration of the Karnataka chapter of the Indian National Congress, led by his father Mallikarjun Kharge, isn't revoked.”
He accused Kharge of undermining Hinduism and targeting pro-Hindu activists as part of what he termed the Congress's “hidden agenda.”
Vijayendra asserted that “dharma has never faced defeat,” highlighting that the RSS has reached a century of existence and continues to thrive, dedicated to upholding its ideological tenets.
He claimed that the Kharge family has enjoyed extended political dominance while the Kalyana Karnataka region has lagged in development. Vijayendra challenged what contributions Priyank Kharge has made to advance the area since assuming his ministerial role.
Furthermore, he alleged that Kharge, in a bid to distract from his shortcomings and garner attention, has adopted a pattern of disparaging the RSS in what he described as offensive language. Vijayendra argued that Kharge’s statements reveal a mentality that caters to anti-national elements and disrespects the Hindu faith.
He contended that the Congress had appointed individuals like Kharge to tarnish Hindu traditions and pro-Hindu organizations. Referring to a recent incident in Maharashtra, he criticized Congress leader Harshvardhan Sapkal for inciting outrage by equating Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj with Tipu Sultan.
Vijayendra noted the BJP's expansion nationwide, boasting the largest membership of any political party globally.
Using a mythological reference, he stated that just as Lord Shiva consumed poison to create nectar, the RSS has steadfastly resisted what he called “anti-Hindu poisonous forces.” He remarked that targeting the RSS was futile, akin to the efforts of a baby scorpion.
Vijayendra questioned whether “words of divinity” could emanate from those possessing a “demonic mindset.”
In closing, he compared the Congress party to the invasive Parthenium weed, suggesting that citizens nationwide are already in the process of uprooting it. He predicted that by 2028, it would be completely eradicated, adding that time would reveal “which registration office Priyank Kharge will find himself at then.”
During an event on Sunday, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge referred to the RSS as a demon and labeled the BJP as its shadow. He stated, “We are combating the shadow, and if we confront the demon directly, the nation will advance.”
He also questioned why the RSS should be exempt from registration requirements that apply to clubs and associations.
