Chitradurga, Oct 15 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP president, B.Y. Vijayendra, stated on Wednesday that the claims made by RDPR, IT, and BT Minister Priyank Kharge regarding receiving threatening phone calls over his proposal to prohibit the activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in public spaces are merely an attempt at publicity.
While addressing the media in Chitradurga, BJP MLA Vijayendra asserted that Kharge's assertions are designed to draw attention.
"It is absurd to claim that the RSS can be banned today. I respectfully ask Minister Priyank Kharge - what accomplishments can you showcase in your role within the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) portfolio? What reforms have you initiated that you can present to the public?" Vijayendra remarked.
"For the past 50 to 60 years, your family has held sway over the Kalaburagi district. What advancements have you contributed there? Kalaburagi is at the bottom of the education rankings. Priyank Kharge must clarify why his home district is lagging academically," he continued.
Vijayendra accused the Congress-led administration of concealing its "failures" with "propaganda and diversion" two and a half years into its governance.
"The RSS has been tirelessly working towards nation-building and fostering patriotism among the youth. Its influence extends beyond Karnataka and India; the RSS has established operations in over 40 countries worldwide. It is impossible to ban the RSS," he stated.
Criticizing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Vijayendra remarked, "During the CM's dinner meeting with cabinet ministers, did they address solutions for farmers impacted by floods in the Kalyana Karnataka region? Instead, Siddaramaiah focused on securing funds for the Bihar elections and ways to appease the high command."
The debate surrounding the proposal to restrict RSS activities in Karnataka intensified, with Priyank Kharge releasing a controversial audio clip. "If they believe threats and insults will intimidate me, it's merely their misconception," he responded.
Minister Kharge shared a video capturing his exchange with an unidentified caller. In the recording, the caller, speaking in Hindi, confronts Kharge regarding his proposal to ban RSS activities and subsequently resorts to abusive language. Minister Kharge is seen asking the caller if he learned such insults from the RSS.
