New Delhi, Aug 10 (NationPress) Warning against efforts to tarnish the reputation of a constitutional entity like the ECI, BJP leader Amit Malviya on Sunday challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to substantiate his claims regarding voter list tampering by providing the names of ineligible voters under declaration/oath.
"If Rahul Gandhi is serious about his credibility, he must, under Declaration/Oath, provide the names of the ineligible electors he alleges are listed in the voter rolls, as required by Rule 20(3)(b) of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960," said Malviya in a post on X.
"Failing to do so will clearly indicate that he lacks a substantial case and is merely indulging in political theatrics aimed at distorting the truth, creating public doubt, and disparaging a constitutional institution responsible for maintaining free and fair elections. Such behavior is irresponsible and grievously harmful to our democracy," stated Malviya, who heads the BJP's IT department.
Malviya's recent criticism of Rahul Gandhi followed a prior accusation made by the BJP leader on Saturday, where he claimed the Leader of Opposition had failed to present evidence backing his allegations.
"Grand false claims in public. No evidence when it counts. That's the way of Congress," Malviya posted on X on Saturday, sharing a letter from the Karnataka election official directed to the state Congress leader and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
