Telangana needs double-engine sarkar for growth, says BJP chief Nitin Nabin
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin on Monday, 29 June asserted that Telangana can achieve meaningful development only under a 'double-engine sarkar' — with the BJP governing both the state and the Centre. Speaking at the Viksit Bharat Student Conclave in Ghatkesar, Hyderabad, Nabin expressed confidence that the BJP will form the next government in Telangana.
BJP Chief's Message to Telangana's Youth
Addressing students and young entrepreneurs, Nabin highlighted the dynamism of India's Gen Z, pointing to their presence across fields ranging from sports to startups. He noted that over 2 lakh startups are currently operating across the country, with more than 125 unicorns having emerged under the entrepreneurial drive of Indian youth.
'Today's youth are emerging as job creators. Their innovation and capabilities are being recognised, and they are creating employment opportunities for millions across the country,' Nabin said. He credited Central government policies for providing the structural support that has enabled this startup boom, while drawing a contrast with what he described as the state government's failure to deliver.
Congress Government Under Fire
Nabin trained his criticism squarely on the Congress-led state government, alleging it had failed to honour key commitments made to young people in Telangana — particularly on employment and development. He argued that the youth of Telangana, whom he described as endowed with 'immense talent, innovation, and limitless potential', deserve better from their state administration.
This comes amid a broader BJP push to position itself as the alternative to the Congress government in Telangana, a state the party has long sought to make inroads in following its formation in 2014.
Leadership Matters: The Bihar Example
To illustrate the impact of decisive leadership, Nabin drew on his home state of Bihar. He recounted how the arrival of NDA alliance leader Nitish Kumar in power in 2005 transformed law and order in the state — citing the example of a long-serving DGP who, under new leadership, was finally empowered to bring policing under control.
'If the leadership is capable of making decisions and has confidence that it can take the country forward in the right direction, then the crores of young people in the country will naturally move in that direction as well,' Nabin said.
Social Media, Political Awareness, and a Call to Action
Nabin also touched on the role of social media in raising public awareness, remarking that citizens today are far more conscious of their rights and hold political parties accountable for unfulfilled promises. He urged young people to enter politics, but with a clear sense of purpose and direction.
Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao and other senior party leaders were present at the conclave. With state elections on the horizon, the BJP's outreach to student and youth constituencies in Telangana is expected to intensify in the months ahead.
