Is the DMK Government Causing a Serious Decline in Law and Order in Tamil Nadu?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, Feb 22 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu faction of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vehemently criticized the DMK government on Sunday, charging it with overseeing a significant decline in law and order and neglecting national security.
State BJP President Nainar Nagenthran claimed that under the current DMK administration, Tamil Nadu is becoming a safe haven for extremist groups.
He highlighted the recent capture of six Bangladeshi nationals in Tiruppur by the Delhi Police, asserting that these individuals were allegedly spying for a Pakistan-based terrorist organization and had shared supportive content on social media.
Nagenthran indicated that the recurring arrests of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants involved in unlawful activities in Tiruppur, Coimbatore, and other areas of the Kongu region signal severe flaws in Tamil Nadu's law enforcement.
He pointed out that central investigative bodies such as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and police from other states have conducted operations in Tamil Nadu, raising alarms about the state government's oversight regarding national safety.
The BJP leader also accused the DMK administration of exhibiting political animosity towards the Union government, which he believes jeopardizes public safety in Tamil Nadu.
"The DMK must acknowledge that appeasement cannot compromise national security. In the latter part of its term, it should identify and eliminate terrorist elements hiding within Tamil Nadu," stated Nagenthran.
Supporting these claims, BJP leader and former Tamil Nadu President, K. Annamalai, accused the DMK government of failing administratively.
He claimed that what was once a peaceful state is now being transformed into a refuge for terrorists, anti-social elements, international drug traffickers, and hardened criminals.
Furthermore, Annamalai criticized the state administration's performance, alleging that senior civil servants are being diverted from governance to manage contractor tenders.
He asserted that the state government remains a "mute spectator" in the guise of appeasing its core voter base.
No response has been received from the DMK government regarding the BJP's accusations.
