BJP Demands Internal Reservation Implementation in Karnataka Recruitment
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, March 4 (NationPress) BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra has issued a stern warning, stating that the government needs to implement internal reservation and fill vacant positions to create employment opportunities for the youth. If these demands are not met, the BJP will be forced to initiate a vigorous agitation.
During a press briefing at the BJP state office, Jagannath Bhavan, in Bengaluru on Wednesday, Vijayendra mentioned that the reservation limit has been raised from 50% to 56%.
“The decision to fill 50,000 vacancies or even one lakh vacancies rests with you. Our demand remains clear: all vacant positions must be filled. The BJP government has increased the reservation to 56% to ensure justice for all communities. Based on this, these posts should be filled with a focus on internal reservation for oppressed and backward communities,” he emphasized.
Significantly, the state government has announced plans to begin recruitment for over 50,000 positions following protests by job seekers.
He accused the Chief Minister of consistently neglecting the rights of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. “If you truly care for these communities, refrain from citing court-related technicalities. Provide them with employment and justice,” he urged.
He called on the government to ensure justice for backward classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and youth from all sections of society.
Criticizing the government’s actions, he accused it of claiming to safeguard communities while simultaneously causing harm, labeling it an “unpardonable offense.”
He expressed concerns over the state government’s alleged intention to proceed with recruitment under the old reservation framework, stating it could lead to “unrest in the state.”
Vijayendra cautioned the Chief Minister against testing the limits of oppressed communities’ patience.
“We cannot predict how long you will retain your position as Chief Minister. However, do not provoke oppressed and backward communities. If vacant posts are filled without implementing internal reservation, the government will bear responsibility for any ensuing consequences,” he warned, urging the Chief Minister to make a wise decision.
He highlighted that youth are already protesting, with many approaching the age limit for employment. “Their patience is waning. The Chief Minister, who is in a position to provide justice, must protect his reputation by addressing their issues,” he added.
Vijayendra also announced a series of protests set to begin in Bengaluru from March 6, coinciding with the start of the Assembly session.
He stated that Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers would soon initiate protests, as the government has not fulfilled its promises. He also mentioned that guest lecturers are preparing to protest over unmet commitments.
Pointing to the 108 ambulance service, he claimed that many ambulances are out of service and employees have not received their salaries.
He drew attention to the ongoing garbage crisis in Bengaluru, stating that civic workers are also preparing to protest, and indicated that a wave of agitations is expected in the coming days. “The government has completely failed. Anarchy has taken root in the state,” he alleged.
Vijayendra further claimed that even MLAs from the ruling Congress party are showing signs of rebellion.
“If you need to arrange foreign tours to appease your own party MLAs, it indicates that governance has collapsed. Law and order has deteriorated, leaving Karnataka deprived of development. Even MLAs from the ruling party are rising in revolt. This is the reality,” he stated, targeting Chief Minister Siddaramiah.
He urged the Chief Minister to stop blaming the Central government and instead address the urgent issues within the state.
Former minister B. Sriramulu, state vice-president Harathalu Halappa, and MLC Hemalatha Nayak were present at the press conference.
