Bengaluru, Feb 24 (NationPress) B.Y. Vijayendra, the President of the Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and an MLA, criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Tuesday for neglecting the plight of the youth and prioritizing their power struggles.

While addressing the press in Bengaluru, Vijayendra highlighted the significant protests by BJP and student groups in Dharwad, which called for the urgent filling of numerous vacant government positions. He noted that the youth have been fighting for their rights and expressing their distress for over two and a half years, yet the state government has not responded adequately.

"The youth have consistently protested for their rights, but their concerns have fallen on deaf ears within the government. Even during the Belagavi Assembly session, student unions faced police brutality while protesting. The government remained apathetic until the Karnataka High Court intervened to arrange a meeting with the Chief Minister," he stated.

Vijayendra claimed that both CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM Shivakumar are more focused on their power tussle than on addressing the pressing issues faced by the youth.

"One is attempting to cling to the Chief Minister's position, while the other is aiming to seize it. They are too preoccupied to hear the voices of the youth," remarked the State BJP President.

He shared that student union representatives informed him that approximately 2.85 lakh government posts are currently unfilled.

"The Congress government has not initiated the recruitment process for these positions," he asserted.

He further accused the Congress-led Karnataka government of not filling a single vacant position, merely using legal issues surrounding reservations as a pretext for delaying recruitment.

"Ministers, including the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, are busy delivering speeches across the state yet have failed to deliver justice to the youth. The government shows no intent to fill vacant positions and secure the future of young individuals," he added.

Vijayendra pointed out that student unions have organized protests in Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, and Dharwad, and their agitation is ongoing.

"There is a lack of development, and the state government is even struggling to pay salaries to its employees. By not addressing the vacant positions, the government is committing an injustice against the youth," he criticized.

He questioned the government's delay in job recruitments despite being in power for nearly three years.

"The Chief Minister claims that job recruitment will commence, yet no action has been taken for three years. How long will they test the youth's patience? Can't they see their tears?" he queried.

Vijayendra called for an immediate start to the recruitment process for vacant positions and urged reforms in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).

"Youth are surpassing the age limit for government jobs. The state government must comprehend their feelings and act responsibly instead of further delaying," he insisted.

He also emphasized that the state government should clearly outline its priorities and tackle the escalating law and order issues within the state.

He condemned the murder of a Class 10 student in Shivamogga, stating that the BJP strongly denounces such incidents.

Additionally, he referenced recent violent events in Mangaluru, Yellapur, and Shivamogga, questioning whether Karnataka's Home Minister G. Parameshwara is effectively managing law and order in the state.

Point of View

It is evident that the ongoing power struggle within Karnataka's government is detracting from critical youth issues. With protests escalating and recruitment processes stalled, the administration must refocus on the pressing needs of young citizens to ensure their future.
