New Delhi, March 13 (NationPress) – On Friday, BJP members and their allies refuted allegations of a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) shortage in the nation, accusing the Opposition of inciting fear. Meanwhile, opposing parties contended that the government is neglecting the struggles of the populace.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that there is no lack of LPG or diesel, stating that the nation possesses ample reserves.
“The Prime Minister himself confirmed that LPG and diesel supplies are sufficient, yet the Opposition aims to stir unrest. Citizens must not fall victim to this,” Tiwari stated in an interview with IANS.
He further accused certain gas agency proprietors, allegedly backed by the Congress, of facilitating black market operations.
BJP MP Kangana Ranaut supported this stance, asserting, “This is merely a tactic to distract from their own failures. Prime Minister Modi has guaranteed that LPG supplies are stable, and we have faith in his leadership.”
Another BJP MP, Arun Govil, dismissed claims of a scarcity, asserting, “There is no LPG crisis. The notion of a crisis is being exaggerated unnecessarily.”
Janata Dal (United) MP, Sanjay Jha, accused the Opposition of instilling panic among citizens.
“The Opposition is inciting fear. Just yesterday, the Prime Minister had discussions with Iranian leaders. This is a global issue; it is beyond India's control,” he mentioned.
However, the Opposition maintained that citizens in various regions are struggling to obtain LPG cylinders.
Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal remarked that the government is out of touch with the realities on the ground.
“Look at the national capital—people are enduring significant hardship. This reality seems lost on them as they live in a disconnected world, separate from the common populace,” Venugopal asserted.
Congress MP Tariq Anwar questioned the government’s assurances, asking why prices have risen if there is no shortage.
“If the Opposition is merely causing panic and everything is fine, then why have prices been increased?” he challenged.
Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav stated that the Opposition is seeking clarity regarding the government's readiness.
“We are not creating panic; we are inquiring about the government’s preparations. Videos on social media and news channels depict long queues. Those hosting weddings are resorting to using firewood for cooking due to the LPG shortage,” she explained.
The discussion surrounding LPG availability has heightened amid reports and social media footage displaying extensive queues at some distribution centers, despite the government's assertion that national reserves are sufficient.
