Congress Condemns Central Government Over LPG Crisis and Black Market Issues
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 25 (NationPress) The Congress party has vehemently criticized the Centre regarding escalating fuel prices, shortages of LPG cylinders, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s noticeable absence from crucial discussions, asserting that the government is neglecting significant public issues.
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera emphasized that making LPG cylinders readily available and tackling black marketing should be at the forefront of governmental action.
He pointed out that citizens in various regions are compelled to endure lengthy waits or buy cylinders at exorbitant prices.
“Currently, the nation’s focus must be on ensuring that people do not have to line up for LPG cylinders or engage in black market transactions. Guaranteeing access to LPG cylinders is a national imperative, alongside addressing petrol and diesel shortages and shielding citizens from inflation,” Khera conveyed to IANS.
He also brought attention to the struggles faced by farmers, noting that around 60,000 tonnes of basmati rice remain stranded at sea, underscoring the multitude of economic challenges confronting the populace.
Ratcheting up his critique, Khera aimed his remarks at Narendra Modi, accusing the Prime Minister of being largely disengaged from election rallies and critical political events.
“We are actively campaigning in various states, including Kerala and Assam. In contrast, the Prime Minister has been absent. No state now desires his presence for campaigning,” he remarked, adding that surging fuel prices and LPG shortages are significant worries for the community.
“The situation has escalated to a point where someone who aspired to be a 'world leader' is not even welcomed by his own party leaders in states with ongoing elections,” he stated.
Khera continued by asserting that despite the visible struggles of citizens, including the black marketing of essential goods near the national capital, the government has not provided an adequate response.
“The entire nation is aware of the circumstances. The Prime Minister is either willfully ignoring or neglecting the reality. Just a few kilometers from the Prime Minister’s Office, people are queuing up and black marketing is rampant,” he claimed.
Regarding all-party meetings, the Congress leader questioned the Prime Minister’s lack of attendance, asserting that the critical issue is not the Leader of the Opposition’s presence but rather the Prime Minister’s involvement.
“The Prime Minister has skipped the last two or three all-party gatherings. He withdraws from the Lok Sabha and avoids these meetings. This is the core issue,” Khera stated.
The Congress party has persistently challenged the Centre on matters of inflation, fuel prices, and governance, while the government asserts that it is implementing necessary measures to stabilize prices and secure the supply of essential goods.
