Is BJP’s Internal Conflict Behind the Dharmasthala Case?

Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Oct 30 (NationPress) Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar reiterated his claim on Thursday that the Dharmasthala case stemmed from internal disputes among leaders within the BJP.
The Deputy Chief Minister remarked that significant damage has already been inflicted upon the individual involved, their family, and the institution itself in the Dharmasthala case.
“Our hope is that both dharma and justice should triumph,” he stated.
Shivakumar noted that the character of Dharmadhikari and BJP Rajya Sabha Member Veerendra Heggade is exceptional.
“It saddens me to witness the reputation of such an esteemed institution being compromised. While Tirupati is famed for offerings made through financial contributions, Dharmasthala is recognized for vows made through words. Once such a vow is made, it is not to be broken. I trust that any institution operating with such discipline will not encounter issues,” he expressed.
He emphasized that his comments are based on his personal understanding and the traditions upheld in Dharmasthala.
Shivakumar also mentioned that Home Minister G. Parameshwara has indicated that the report will be submitted shortly.
“They may have submitted numerous petitions to the court. When an offense occurs, the law allows for an opportunity to seek forgiveness. The media should focus on this aspect,” he suggested.
When questioned about reports of ministers providing a three-month performance report in relation to a cabinet reshuffle, Shivakumar stated he is unaware if such reports were requested concerning other matters or ministers.
“Our party conducts regular surveys every month — assessing our work within our constituencies, the party, and in governance. Reports are consistently sent to the high command. They also gather their own reports. We submit monthly updates regarding party activities,” he concluded.
