Jaipur, Dec 5 (NationPress) In a bold statement during the Ganga Canal Centenary celebrations held in Sadhuwali, Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma took a jab at Congress, declaring that his administration is committed to supplying Yamuna water to the semi-arid Shekhawati region.

Responding to remarks made by Congress leaders regarding the Yamuna water agreement, Sharma urged the Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully and Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasra to remain calm.

“Our government is determined to bring Yamuna water to Shekhawati, and we will ensure access to water regardless of your opposition,” he stated.

In his critique of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Sharma emphasized that the Congress leadership has historically prioritized personal connections over the welfare of Rajasthan.

“Gehlot claims Kamal Nath is his close ally. However, when it was time to sign the ERCP agreement, Kamal Nath, the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, refused to cooperate and even took legal action against the proposal,” he expressed.

Sharma commended the current Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for his support towards Rajasthan.

“Mohan Yadav exemplified true leadership and friendship. At my request, he promptly finalized the ERCP agreement. The DPR is complete, and the foundation stone has been laid. That is genuine commitment,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister further accused Congress of being plagued by internal strife and desperation.

“There is no cohesion within Congress. Their disagreements are not about public welfare but about power. The Leader of the Opposition makes statements out of fear of losing his position,” he noted.

Sharma added that the state Congress chief speaks out of ambition for the same position, asserting that Ashok Gehlot is preoccupied with managing both leaders, first silencing one and then trying to control the other.

“Gehlot has first silenced one leader and now is tightening control over the other,” he concluded.

Sharma reiterated that Rajasthan cannot advance under a party consumed by infighting and insecurity.

“Congress lacks love for Rajasthan and even for one another. Their politics revolve around power rather than people. Rajasthan deserves better, and this government will deliver,” he asserted.
