New Delhi, May 30 (NationPress) The BJP has strongly condemned West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her alleged remarks referring to 'Operation Sindoor' — a military response to Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack — as a “mere business of sindoor.” Senior BJP figure Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi retaliated, suggesting that Mamata is creating confusion regarding a national victory and diminishing the bravery of the armed forces.

On May 29, responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address in Alipurduar, Mamata Banerjee claimed the government labeled the military operation 'Operation Sindoor' for political gain.

“Once, he identified himself as a ‘chaiwala’, then evolved into a ‘chowkidar’, and now he is discussing the sale of 'sindoor'. 'Sindoor' cannot be commodified like this. It symbolizes the respect and dignity of mothers. The name was assigned for political exploitation. All such terminologies are determined by the central government,” Mamata stated.

In response, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi commented to IANS, “Certain individuals are accustomed to generating confusion and spreading negativity during our country’s triumphs. They are aware of how our army has defeated terrorists. Yet, instead of honoring our forces’ valor, they show empathy towards the enemy. While the military's courage is clear, these leaders are busy comforting the terrorists. Your discontent with Modi’s achievements is understandable, but don’t let it turn into disdain for the nation’s successes.”

Naqvi also addressed senior Congress leader and former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid’s recent acknowledgment of the abrogation of Article 370, deeming it a rare moment of honesty from the Opposition.

“Those who grasp the real situation recognize the beneficial changes following Article 370. For the first time since Independence, local body elections were conducted in Jammu and Kashmir. The era of stone-pelting and separatist dominance has ended. With the removal of Article 370, over 370 issues have dissipated—deeply entrenched,” he remarked.

Naqvi also commented on Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s challenge to the Prime Minister regarding the number of Rafale jets allegedly shot down by Pakistan during the recent conflict.

“This ancient party is now competing for dominance in what I term the 'mourning garden' of classic politics. Leaders are engrossed in whether Rahul Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, or Nehru might have acted differently. Rather than concentrating on current achievements, they remain fixated on the past,” Naqvi stated.

He added, “Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) is a vital part of India and will always be. It has been unlawfully seized by Pakistan. In this Amrit Kaal, PoK will reunite with India. Regarding what Rahul Gandhi might do—no one knows, but it’s evident his party is fragmenting.”

Addressing Congress MP Jairam Ramesh’s critique of the government’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack and his claim that the terrorists behind it are still “roaming free,” Naqvi stated that the Opposition’s narrative only assists the enemies of the nation.

“This verbal skirmish within the mourning garden of the old party illustrates how disconnected they are from the national sentiment. While the global community supports India in its battle against terrorism, the Congress appears to be articulating a different sentiment. Their critique resonates more with the discomfort of terrorists than with that of a responsible Opposition. Until the Congress emerges from this self-imposed sorrow, it will continue to self-destruct while failing the nation,” Naqvi concluded.

Point of View

It’s crucial to highlight the importance of unity and respect for our armed forces during discussions around national victories. While political debates are inevitable, they should not diminish the sacrifices made by the military. The focus should remain on fostering a collective national identity and pride.
