BJP in Jammu & Kashmir Calls for CBI Investigation into Rohingya and Bangladeshi Settlements

Jammu, Dec 9 (NationPress) The BJP in Jammu & Kashmir has called for a CBI investigation into the settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu.

Describing the presence of these groups in Jammu city as a significant political conspiracy, BJP chief spokesman Sunil Sharma insisted on a CBI probe to uncover those responsible for facilitating their settlement.

Criticizing the ruling National Conference (NC) government for its comments about providing water and electricity connections to these communities, the BJP accused them of protecting individuals from a specific community.

"The BJP will press the lieutenant governor to initiate a CBI investigation and file an FIR to thoroughly examine this conspiracy. It is vital to ascertain who brought and settled the Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu, and rigorous measures, including prosecution and imprisonment, should be enforced against them. The influx of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis into Jammu & Kashmir began around the onset of militancy in the 1990s," he asserted.

He further stated that this situation represents a major conspiracy demanding a CBI inquiry.

"Various NGOs have significantly contributed to the resettlement of Rohingyas. Was the funding derived locally or from overseas? The BJP is convinced that the settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu, situated near the international border, was orchestrated under a conspiracy," he claimed.

He called for an extensive investigation to unveil those who facilitated the settlement of these individuals on government-owned lands, provided them with water and electricity, and assisted them in obtaining Aadhaar cards.

"These individuals have even participated in local elections. These revelations have recently surfaced. Ironically, these are the same individuals who opposed the abrogation of Article 370 and argued that no Indian should settle in Jammu and Kashmir. Yet, they facilitated the settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu. While Indians from other regions are barred from settling in Jammu and Kashmir, these illegal immigrants were allowed to reside here purely based on their religion," he further claimed.

He warned that these individuals pose a national security risk as they reside in areas close to the international border.

"They were settled as part of a political conspiracy aimed at creating a vote bank," he claimed.

The BJP leader emphasized that the nation should be aware of which forces are undermining its interests and prioritizing political gain over national well-being.

He reiterated the BJP's demand for the eviction and deportation of the Rohingyas residing in Jammu, who have established substantial settlements in the city.

As per official statistics, around 14,000 Rohingyas and Bangladeshis are illegally settled in Jammu.
