BSF Claims No Evidence of Rohingyas Near J&K International Border

Jammu, Dec 13 (NationPress) The Inspector General of the Border Security Force (BSF) Jammu Frontier, D.K. Boora, stated on Friday that there is no evidence indicating the presence of Rohingyas residing near the international border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The senior BSF official also dismissed the notion that any unidentified individuals could be moving near the IB without the BSF's awareness.
“The border has always been a sensitive area, and we maintain a vigilant watch on the circumstances, regardless of events occurring in Bangladesh or elsewhere. We currently have no information regarding Rohingyas living close to the IB in Jammu. The entire border is under rigorous surveillance by the BSF and other agencies, with the border police also playing a critical role in the region,” he remarked.
Furthermore, he ruled out any attempts by Rohingyas or Bangladeshis to breach the IB and enter Pakistan.
He disagreed with claims that numerous laborers were operating near the IB without adequate background checks.
“You might believe that their verification has not been conducted, but the truth is different. Intelligence services and the police are actively engaged in this verification process, and employers must report to the police for background checks. Therefore, it is not accurate to state that unidentified individuals are wandering near the border without anyone knowing,” he explained.
He declined to comment on the situation along the Bangladesh border, stating: “We do not have a direct role in its security concerning the Jammu border, which has consistently been sensitive regardless of developments in Bangladesh or elsewhere. Keeping this in mind, we ensure close monitoring and adjust our deployment as necessary.”
The BSF officer added that there have been no reports in Jammu of any individuals pretending to be mentally ill crossing into this region from Pakistan and then returning.
“Regarding drug trafficking, the police and all other security agencies are diligently working to combat this issue and have succeeded in controlling it,” he noted.
Additional security force deployments have been made in J&K to prevent border incursions and address terrorism in collaboration with the army and local police.
