BSF Successfully Repels 24 Bangladeshi Nationals and Two Rohingya Individuals Attempting to Enter India

Kolkata, Jan 12 (NationPress) The Border Security Force (BSF) has reported a successful operation in thwarting a substantial infiltration attempt involving Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingya individuals in the districts of North 24-Parganas and Nadia in West Bengal on Saturday.

Personnel from the BSF's South Bengal Frontier stated that they managed to push back 20 Bangladeshi nationals and two Rohingyas who had crossed through an unfenced segment of the Indo-Bangladesh Border (IBB) in North 24-Parganas. Furthermore, four Bangladeshi individuals were sent back from Nadia.

“Upon interrogation, the Bangladeshis and Rohingyas indicated that they were attempting to reach Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad for employment in labor and housekeeping roles. Our forces successfully drove them back across the IBB. Such infiltration attempts continue despite flag meetings with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) regarding this issue. Additionally, the BSF intercepted attempts to smuggle drugs and cattle along the IBB during the day,” remarked N K Pandey, DIG and spokesperson for the BSF's South Bengal Frontier.

On the same day, the BSF also confiscated three kilograms of Ganja, 2,900 strips of Quinine Sulphate tablets, 700 ampoules of Quinine Dihydrochloride, and 1,200 ampoules of Artemether. Moreover, 11 cattle heads were rescued from smugglers, according to the DIG.

“We received intelligence about a potential drug smuggling operation through a riverine border section. All boat checkpoints were placed on high alert. Later in the evening, soldiers from the C S Khali Border Outpost noticed an individual moving along the river's embankment on the Indian side. A soldier approached and confronted him, but the individual escaped into the dense vegetation and fog. A boat checkpoint arrived shortly after, leading to the recovery of two packets of narcotics that the fugitive had dropped,” Pandey explained.

He added that troops from the 119 Battalion BSF stationed at Mahadipur, Gopalnagar, Sabdalpur, and Nawada BOPs in Malda district seized 565 bottles of Phensedyl from their operational areas. Soldiers from the 88 Battalion BSF rescued eight cattle heads within the jurisdiction of Pannapur BOP, while personnel from the 115 Battalion prevented three cattle heads from being smuggled across the IBB.

The seized materials have been turned over to the appropriate authorities for processing, and the rescued cattle have been sent to the Dhyan Foundation Gaushala following e-tagging. The BSF is implementing stringent measures to combat smuggling along the IBB and remains vigilant to thwart any infiltration attempts.
